Hello,
I have set up an excel file (Excel 2007) and tried to transfer soem test data to Smartgenealogy. First file went through ok. Then I added some dates (extracted from a secondary Excel file) and at one point I get the following error:
"Impossible de convertier le Variant de type (ERROR) en type (String)"
Any ideas? |

Hi,
The message means that SmartGenealogy was expecting a character sting in one of the fields, and got something that cannot be converted to a string : Check the data that you have added for the second trial, some of them are probably incorrect.
All dates must be in a correct format, for instance "17 JAN 1887", or "BEF JAN 1887" or "BET 1887 AND 1900"... or empty.
In the worksheet "Persons", columns A, Q, AB and AC must be numerical (0 to 99999)
In the worksheet "Events", columns A and G must be numerical (0 to 99999)
In the worksheet "Families", columns A, B and C must be numerical (0 to 99999)
If you cannot locate the problem, you can send me your Excel file that cannot be loaded, for analysis. |

Solved! Thank you so much for your help.
Am I correct in assuming that it will not accept Excel 2007 (.xlsx) files? |

You are right, SmartGenealogy will not accept *.xlsx files directly.
However, if you rename your .XLSX file as .XLS (just suppress the X in the extension name), it should load properly into SmartGenealogy. |
